Y-dress? – all-terrain, all-occasion clothes…
Convertible means multifunctional, transformable, modifiable. Clothes which become part of a creative process masterminded by the wearer. Use a convertible to conjure up a whole new experience and a whole new attitude. Less baggage, more options, it’s a miracle for city nomads.
My dress is my wardrobe. You can live the city life as an all-terrain experience – convert your skirt into a party dress in a whip of a zip. A pair of trousers becomes a T-shirt, or was that the other way round? Make it a dress for all seasons by detaching the sleeves. Your clothes can be a playground for your every whim. But that’s not all – these clothes are not stuck in a dead-end existence – they can be reborn as something else. A skirt cut in a circle becomes a picnic rug, a towel becomes a beach dress with a pocket which becomes a bag which wraps it all up. See it, use it, experiment with it.
The Y-dress? label invents real reasons to get dressed – a happy label with a witty, socially-aware take on life’s ironies.
With designs for a whole army of urbanites who want their clothes (the ultimate means of personal expression) to be beautiful, playful, easy and mobile. Y-dress? enthusiastically cultivates the art of finding new angles – turning preconceived ideas (and clothes) upside-down and inside-out. A Happy life philosophy.
Aleksandra Paszkowska (designer of Y-dress?) lives and works in Brussels, but she’s fun to talk to in any language – she’s had long stopovers in Poland, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy and Belgium. Her first collection “Aleksandra Paszkowska for INNO” won her the “Belgium’s Got Talent” award. She worked Ermenegildo Zegna and Gucci in Italy before graduating from the Brussels fashion school, La Cambre. Y-dress? was created in 1996, and its first shop opened in the designer heart of Brussels, rue Antoine Dansaert, in 2003. A second, temporary shop, opened in december 2004, in Brussels too.
